Nordic Ashes: Experience, Gold, Potions, and Other Artifacts Guide

This guide will detail the various drops found in the game. Enemies yield experience orbs upon destruction, while crates yield gold, potions, and artifacts.

All Drops Explained In Nordic Ashes

Overview of Experience Orbs

This section outlines the different types of experience orbs encountered in the game, organized by the amount of experience earned:

  • Orange: Default orbs earned from most normal enemies.
  • Green: Acquired when losing green health.
  • Blue: Rarely obtained from normal enemies.
  • Purple: Larger orbs obtained upon defeating Elites.
  • Red: Automatically gained after defeating a mini-boss at the end of a wave; usually unseen. Precise values for each orb type may be added later.

Overview of Gold Drops

  • Standard Gold Drops: Typically, gold drops come in three denominations: 1, 5, and 10 gold pieces.
  • Special Gold Drop: After reaching a certain friendship level with Gnoki, a special gold drop worth 5 gold pieces will be rewarded. Gnoki will drop this every time you encounter them.
  • Additional Ways to Earn Gold: Unlockable character artifacts and other relics obtained over time offer alternative methods to earn gold. Additionally, there are two upgrades available in the Yggdrasil that impact starting gold, along with the chance to increase each gold pickup by 1.

Overview of Potions

  • Red Potions: Red potions come in three sizes: small, normal, and super. The small potion restores half a heart container, the normal red potion restores a full heart container, and the super red potion refills all empty heart containers. The super red potion appears to be exclusively available for purchase at Gnoki’s shop or as a rare crate drop.
  • Blue Potions: These potions grant a blue heart separate from your regular heart containers. The small blue potion grants half a blue heart, while the standard potion grants a full blue heart. Blue hearts are lost completely when depleted and must be replenished separately.
  • Green Heart Potions: Green heart potions provide a special green experience orb as they deplete. The small potion grants half a green heart, while the larger potion grants a full green heart. Similar to blue hearts, green hearts cannot be regenerated.
  • Golden Potion: Exclusive to a specific character’s relics, this potion replaces all crate-dropped potions with golden ones. Golden potions do not heal but are worth 1 and 3 gold pieces, respectively.

Exploring Additional Artifacts

  • Repulsion Charm: Pushes all standard enemies off the visible screen area and moves elites and bosses a noticeable distance away. No damage is inflicted, but it provides breathing room.
  • Fire Pendant: Shoots fireballs in all directions, dealing significant damage and burn damage based on current stats and relics.
  • Red Heart Charm: Instantly fills a single empty heart container. If health is full, it will still consume the artifact without effect.
  • Blue Heart Charm: Grants an instant full blue heart.
  • Heart Ring: Attracts all red potions across the entire map, useful for emergencies. If health is full, it clears all red potions from the map.
  • Gold Ring: Attracts all gold and gold potions across the map. Excess gold beyond the cap (99 by default) is also cleared. Particularly useful near the end of a wave to collect remaining drops before heading to Gnoki’s shop.
  • Attraction Ring: Gathers all experience orbs remaining on the map, allowing you to gain multiple levels at once, especially beneficial near the end of waves.
  • Status Cards: Each card applies a 75% chance of inflicting the corresponding ailment on every enemy on screen. The potency of these ailments can be enhanced by relevant relics.
