Advanced Tips & Tricks Guide For Rusty’s Retirement

Adding Color to Your Game!

Here’s an early tip: Infuse your game with color!

One of the most enjoyable aspects of this game is stepping back from the competition and investing extra effort into crafting the perfect scene for your plot. The game truly shines when you blend in decorations that match the ambiance you desire.

Staying Relaxed & Adjusting Pace

This game is designed to be laid-back, allowing you to play at your own pace. But what about Focus Mode?

Focus Mode is a customizable feature found in the settings. It grants you the ability to control the game’s speed, either speeding it up or slowing it down according to your preferences. By enabling Focus Mode, you can effectively halve the game’s speed.

This feature comes in handy when you’re multitasking or need to divert your attention elsewhere. Whether you prefer a challenge by slowing down the game, adjusting production times to suit your style, or simply want to manage your resources without constantly monitoring the game, Focus Mode provides the flexibility you need.

Introducing Splunk!

How Does Splunk Operate?

Splunk serves as the ultimate addition to your farm team, bringing automation to your crop planting and completing the cycle of automation. Here’s how Splunk gets the job done:

Splunk utilizes the last 8 seeds you’ve unlocked. This means he plants open plots using these seeds.

OR!

Alternatively, Splunk relies on the signs assigned to crop plots. But how do signs function?

Unlocked in Sonnet’s Shop, signs aren’t just decorative; they can also be placed atop crop plots. This restricts the crop plots to only allow Splunk to plant those specific crops!

Boosting Crop Growth

Don’t overlook this aspect of the game, as it’s the quickest way to achieve high scores in biofuel and scrap production!

Fertilization is straightforward: within a certain radius of the feeding trough, animals release manure when fed. You’ll need a waste bot to collect this manure and deposit it into a fertilization facility. While the waste bot doesn’t necessarily require the facility within its radius, it’s advisable for efficiency, ideally placing 1 or 2 near the animals’ drop spots.

Once this process is automated, fertilization bots can be positioned anywhere! These bots don’t need a storage box or fertilization facility nearby; they operate based on your total collected manure. Just ensure you maximize the bot’s radius.

Fertilized crops grow 25% faster, and the effects of fertilization last for an hour, so you won’t need many bots to see significant benefits.

Beekeeping

Beekeeping offers an alternative farming method to traditional crops, focusing on berry bushes and related structures.

How does beekeeping function?

Beekeeping revolves around nine different berry bushes, each yielding berries every 20-30 minutes. These berries can generate between 20-40 biofuel each and can only be harvested by Forbic and his drones.

Now, what roles do bulblets and butterflies play?

Bulblets are tiny insects spawned from bulb hives. These insects gradually accumulate biofuel in their containers, which can be collected upon clicking. Even when ready to be collected, bulb hives continue to accumulate biofuel.

Butterflies, on the other hand, do not accumulate biofuel. Instead, they spawn eight butterflies per placed cage, enhancing the growth speed of nearby berry bushes. While the exact percentage boost is unknown, both butterflies and bulblets passively accelerate berry production within their radius.

Storage Bins Simplified

Storage bins offer seamless connectivity, allowing all of them to be linked together!

These bins are most effective when positioned alongside harvester bots. As the bots travel to and from these bins, all crops are consolidated into a centralized storage. Subsequently, biofuel bots retrieve biofuel from the storage to distribute it for use.

While storage bins don’t necessarily need to be within a bot’s radius, it’s advantageous to do so. Additionally, Rusty’s House doubles as a storage bin and a water well. This dual functionality proves useful both in the early and late stages of the game.

Other Farms

Different farms, such as Flower Swamp and Sandy Desert, present fresh challenges compared to Rusty’s usual farming environment. These challenges often revolve around the scarcity or excess of water, requiring you to adapt your strategies accordingly. You can unlock these farms one after the other by expanding outward and “beating” The Farm, providing a new starting point.

Each farm type has its own distinct traits:

  • Basic Farm: No bonus traits, offering open-range farming.
  • Swamp Farm: Water flows throughout, eliminating the need for water wells. However, water obstacles may hinder your progress, forcing you to adjust your approach.
  • Desert Farm: Crops will dry out if not watered within specific intervals (approximately 2 minutes until dried out and 6 minutes if ready for harvest).
  • Blossom Farm: Permanent bushes and decorations may obstruct your activities.
  • Oasis Farm: A combination of challenges from the Desert Farm and the Flower Swamp Farm.

Additionally, this game allows you to create multiple save files, each tracking your progress, including hours spent. If you ever feel fatigued from one farm, feel free to switch things up!

Additional Information

Interesting Fact: Both Rusty and Haiku can carry up to 8 units of water in their watering can.

Here’s a quick breakdown of biofuel conversion rates based on in-game data:

  • 1 biofuel = 10 scrap
  • 5 biofuel = 50 scrap
  • 10 biofuel = 100 scrap
  • 50 biofuel = 500 scrap
  • 100 biofuel = 1000 scrap
  • 500 biofuel = 5000 scrap
  • 999 biofuel = 9990 scrap

Improving Efficiency with Upgrades!

Forget the number of bots you have—upgrades are where it’s at!

Upgrades are incredibly cost-effective and can double your production if utilized wisely!

However, keep in mind that the recharge cost of each bot will increase by 1 every few upgrades. Therefore, it’s crucial to determine which bots will benefit the most from these upgrades.

Tiny Tip – Benches

Meet the cheerful bench!

Benches aren’t just for looks; they’re located in the buildings tab, alongside bots and plots. They serve a practical purpose, keeping farm members in one area. Often, they’ll wander to the nearest bench to idle. This includes Splunk, Rusty, Haiku, and Forbic. If you want to keep these folks from wandering too far, consider placing a few benches in the designated area.

Large Plants

Always plant crops in 2×2 or 3×3 formations!

For a quick boost in biofuel or an impressive decoration, aim for a lucky find: a large plant! This occurs when you plant the same crops together in the same plot. (Note: Only certain crops, such as pumpkin, cucumber, and tomato, seem to have large variants.)

Handy Key Shortcuts

Reset the camera to Rusty’s location: Press ‘R’

Summon the crop inspector to identify the crop in use: Press ‘I’

Quickly demolish: Hit ‘Backspace’

Need to slow down the game? Pause it with ‘Space’

Zoom in and out: Use ‘Up’ and ‘Down’, or ‘M’ and ‘N’

Navigate through tabs without clicking: Press ‘1-9’

Tired of Rusty’s getting hidden behind other windows? Enable ‘Always on Top’ mode.

Optimal Settings

For minimal strain on your computer, consider setting the FPS to 30 and enabling on-demand rendering. This will provide a pixel-like animated experience while allowing your computer to run the game smoothly alongside other tasks.

Taskbar/Sidebar Placement:

  • Adjust the taskbar value to position the game at the top or center of your screen.
  • Similarly, you can modify the sidebar value to switch it from right to left.

For monitors:

  • If you prefer to adjust the placement on your monitor, input a custom value of 9999. This will automatically set the value to its maximum possible value, although some monitors, particularly those with a resolution of 1920×1080, may not support this feature.

Task Prioritization

The priority list empowers you to adjust the order of operations for your two most valuable workers. If you’re struggling with watering tasks or running low on biofuel, you can prioritize Rusty or Haiku to handle those tasks over others like building or rearranging objects. This feature proves invaluable during times when you feel currency generation isn’t fast enough!

Conclusion:

Leverage Focus Mode from the settings bar to tailor the game’s pacing to your needs, whether you require a slower pace for multitasking or a faster one for efficient production.

Explore the diverse traits of different farm types, such as Desert, Swamp, and Oasis, to adapt your strategies accordingly.

Maximize berry growth by prioritizing the presence of Bulblets and Butterflies, although exact growth percentage boosts remain unspecified.
